چکیده

Let t 0. Select numbers randomly from the interval [0, 1] until the sum is greater than t. Let (t) be the expected number of selections. We prove that (t) = et for 0 t 1. Moreover, limt→+∞ ( (t)− 2t)= 3 . This limit is a special case of our asymptotic results for solutions of the delay differential equation f ′(t) = f (t) − f (t − 1) for t > 1. We also consider four other solutions of this equation that are related to the above selection process. 2006 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved. MSC 2000: Primary 34K06; 60G50; 34K60

Is There a ‘Mystery of Currency Exposure’? An Empirical Study of A-Share Listed Companies

Given companies’ dynamic responses to expected exchange rate changes, this article improves on current methods of measuring exposure to foreign exchange rate changes by breaking down the spot exchange rate changes into expected changes and unexpected changes. The currency risk exposure coefficients resulting from an empirical analysis of Shanghai Stock Exchange A share listed companies on wh...

Unexpected Banking Loan Losses in an Estimated DSGE Model

In spite of realizing more loss than expected and reserved provision in loaning process, some of our banks avoid recognizing the losses, through extension of the loan contracts and consequently do not shift the realized losses to their capital. With this in mind, the major objective of this study is to design a frame-work, through which we can explain the differences between the results of t...

An Examination of the Relationship between Values at Risk and Expected Stock Return in Tehran’s Stock Exchange

Abstract The main objective of this study was to examine the relationship between Value at Risk (VaR) and expected returns from 2002 to 2013 in Tehran’s Stock Exchange. In this study parametric value at risk, which considers the distribution of returns as normal and the historical value at risk as abnormal, was used to test the presence of the volatility anomaly in the companies listed i...

Profiles of random trees: Plane-oriented recursive trees

We summarize several limit results for the profile of random plane-oriented recursive trees. These include the limit distribution of the normalized profile, asymptotic bimodality of the variance, asymptotic approximations of the expected width and the correlation coefficients of two level sizes. We also unveil an unexpected connection between the profile of plane-oriented recursive trees (with ...

Profiles of random trees: plane-oriented recursive trees1

We derive several limit results for the profile of random plane-oriented recursive trees. These include the limit distribution of the normalized profile, asymptotic bimodality of the variance, asymptotic approximation to the expected width and the correlation coefficients of two level sizes. Most of our proofs are based on a method of moments. We also discover an unexpected connection between t...
